Board members learned much at Boston conference

What Larsen, Mahlberg bring back will help make HCS district better

HARLAN – School board members who attended a national conference in Boston, MA this month said they were excited to bring back information from the convention that will directly improve student learning in the Harlan Community School District.
Those sentiments come from Kathy Mahlberg and Joni Larsen, who indicated Monday that the National School Board Association conference April 8-11 was definitely worth the $4,713.96 price tag.
“It was an excellent conference,” said Mahlberg, the HCS Board of Education president.  Everything from literacy and school nutrition to mental health and Autism were discussed during sessions of the conference.
