Shelby County Cattlemen for 2016

PANAMA - St. Mary’s Parish Center remains an outstanding location for Shelby County largest annual dinner banquet, as more than 700 area residents and cattlemen attended the annual Cattlemen’s banquet.
The burgeoning crowd were each served a New York strip loin dinner in just over an hour and that feat could only be topped by the announcement from cattlemen vice president Kevin Goshorn that in the past six years nearly $250,000 in student and heifer scholarships and interest free heifer loans had been given out by the organization.
“The 13 - $1,000 scholarships is something we are very proud of. The key to this is those of you in the crowd that support the scholarship auction both by purchasing items and donating them for the auction,” Goshorn said.
Over the last six years they’ve given out 145 - $1,000 academic scholarships, awarded 13 heifer scholarships in the amount of $19,950 and interest free loans in the amount of $79,800 -- that’s a total $244,750 going back to the youth of greater Shelby County he said.
