Shelby County Community Chest fund drive currently under way

COUNTY -- The Shelby County Community Chest has kicked off its annual fund drive with hopes of raising $40,000 this year for local organizations.
Shelby County Community Chest raises funds for agencies which provide valuable services to youth, for area residents and to communities in the Shelby County area. The SCCC board currently is conducting a direct mail campaign during the month of October. Donations may be made by mail, online at www.sccommunitychest.com or via automatic withdrawal. Donations may also be dropped off at any Shelby County State Bank.
“The Shelby County Community Chest has designed an efficient, convenient way for you to assist 22 different agencies at one time with this campaign,” said Janet Buman, SCCC chairperson.  The SCCC organization grants funds to agencies who serve local residents through health, education or social services. Shelby County Community Chest accumulates and then disburses the funds from this campaign to local non-profits for a single year.
“Our goal is to provide the necessary funding to help complete the missions of our local non-profit agencies,” said Buman. “We’ve received even more requests this year and we’ve established a goal of $40,000 for the 2015-16 campaign.”
Money raised during the fund drive will fund the following groups: Boy Scouts of America (Shelby Co.), Concerned, Inc., Country Care Center, Cub Scouts (Shelby Co.), Danish Windmill Corporation, Faith Sound, Friends of Harlan City Parks, Girl Scouts of Greater Iowa (Shelby Co.), Harlan Comm. School District Wellness Committee, Harlan Community TeamMates Mentoring Program, Harlan Friends of Downtown, Iowa Community Kitchen, Lions Club, Nishnabotna Conservation Foundation, Salvation Army, Shelby County American Red Cross, Shelby County Community Outreach, Shelby County Extension & Outreach, Shelby County Fair, Shelby County Historical Museum, Shelby County Public Health, and West Central Community Action.
Please contact Janet Buman at 712-235-7320 or jbuman@scsbnet.com for additional information.  Board members of the Shelby County Community Chest are Laurie Brummer, Janet Buman, Gene Gettys, Kelli Klaassen, Becky Morenz, Sherry Kaufman and Dave Voge.
