Karla Jean Kirby Pauley, 86

Karla Jean Kirby Pauley was born in Council Bluffs on March 15, 1933. She was the third and only surviving child of Edgar Franklin Kirby and Lucy Irene May Kirby. In 1955, Karla met Kevin Joseph Pauley who had returned home to Portsmouth after serving two years in Korea. They married on May 26, 1956, thoroughly pleased to now be sharing the same initials.

Karla died of natural causes at Bethany Lutheran Home in Council Bluffs on May 29, 2019. She was 86. An 11 AM Memorial Mass was celebrated by Rev. David Smith S.J. on Monday, June 3, 2019 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Portsmouth. Inurnment will take place at a later date at the Harlan Cemetery in Harlan. Pauley Jones Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
