Vern Tarkington, 87

    PORTSMOUTH -- Vern E. Tarkington, 87, Portsmouth, died September 30 at the Avoca Nursing and Rehab Center.
    Services will be held Friday, Oct. 2 at 11:30 a.m. at Cutler-O’Neill-Meyer-Woodring Funeral Home in Council Bluffs with burial in the Woodbine Cemetery.  Visitation with the family will be one hour before the service.
    Tarkington is survived by sons Lynn Tarkington of Hemet, CA, and Gale (Toni) Tarkington of Portsmouth; grandchildren Trever (Angie) Tarkington of Indianola and Tiffany (Adam) Barrett of Council Bluffs; great-grandchildren Dylon, Addison and Mack; former wife Roberta Tarkington of Hemet; nieces and nephews.
