Chamberlain signs with Hastings

 HARLAN -- Shane Chamberlain, a 2018 Harlan Community High School graduate, signed a letter of intent this spring to play collegiate basketball at Hastings College in Hastings, Nebraska.
 As a senior in 2017-18, Chamberlain helped lead the Cyclones to a 15-8 overall record and a trip to the Class 3A substate finals. The versatile 6-foot-4 wing player averaged a team-high 18.6 points per game, grabbed 6.1 rebounds per contest and led the squad with 37 steals and 58 made 3-pointers while adding 57 assists. He shot 41.4 percent from long range, 51.6 percent overall and knocked down 80-of-106 free throws (.755). Nearly half of his 140 total rebounds were offensive boards. Chamberlain scored a career-high 34 points at Creston, hitting seven 3-pointers, and also had a 14-rebound game vs. Council Bluffs Abraham Lincoln.
 During his junior and senior campaigns, Chamberlain totaled 762 points, 291 rebounds, 71 steals and 102 treys. He was named third-team All-State as a senior by the Iowa Print Sports Writers Association and was also selected unanimous first-team All-Hawkeye Ten Conference, All-Substate, first-team All-Area (Council Bluffs Daily Nonpareil) and second-team All-Western Iowa, Class 3A/4A (Omaha World-Herald). He was also selected to play in two senior all-star events, scoring a team-high 24 points in the KMAland All-Star Classic March 18.
