Cundiff to join IHSAA Football Players Hall of Fame on Friday

 CEDAR FALLS (Nov. 17) -- Billy Cundiff will become the fifth former Harlan Community football standout inducted into the Iowa High School Athletic Association’s Football Players Hall of Fame here Friday night during halftime of the Class 4A state championship game at the UNI-Dome.
 Cundiff, a 1998 graduate of HCHS, is the son of former Harlan residents Bill and Dawn Cundiff, who now reside in Waukee.
 Additional players joining the IHSAA Hall of Fame this year include: Karl Noonan (Assumption); Derek Greiner (Sigourney-Keota); Wesley Beschorner (Southern Cal); Dustin Avey (Ames); and Kelly Goodburn (Eastwood, Correctionville).
 Previous HCHS graduates in the IHSAA Football Hall of Fame include Todd Koos (class of 1984), Michael Burger (1994), Perry Sibenaller (1984) and Todd Bladt (1999), who have all been inducted during the last 12 years.
 Following an outstanding athletic career at both HCHS and Drake University, Cundiff signed with the Dallas Cowboys as a rookie free agent kicker in 2002 and his NFL career spanned 14 years. He officially retired from the NFL this past year and continues to live and work in Phoenix, Arizona, with his wife, Nicole, and their three children.
