Cyclone boys add to high-ranking state marks

Klein, Schnack ‘PRs’ lead HCHS boys to fourth place at Tiger-Knight Relays; HCHS girls place fifth

CARROLL -- The Harlan Community boys have yet to win a team title in eight outdoor track meets this spring, but that’s just fine with head coach Sam Brummer.
Competing against tough competition night in and night out and observing where the Cyclones’ top performers currently rank in Class 3-A, Brummer is excited for what lies ahead in the final four weeks of the season.
Highlighted by another strong showing in the field events, including Marcus Klein’s impressive ‘PR’ in the long jump, HCHS scored 19 times in 15 events at Thursday night’s Tiger-Knight Co-Ed Relays in Carroll, tallying 95 points to place fourth out of eight teams.
The Cyclone girls, meanwhile, scored 12 times in 10 events and finished fifth with 63 points.
Brummer’s team wasn’t all that far removed from first place as Carroll won the boys’ crown with 112 points, followed by Boone (102) and Atlantic (96).
