Cyclone wrestlers close dual season 16-11 overall
HARLAN (Jan. 23) -- Just like that, regular-season duals have come to an end for the Harlan Community wrestling team.
The Cyclones hosted a challenging quad meet on Senior Night here Tuesday, losing to a pair of Hawkeye Ten powers before finishing with a decisive victory over Carroll.
Creston/O-M, which beat HCHS 60-15 in the first round of duals, went 3-0 on the night and clinched a share of the conference title with a 9-1 H-10 record by outlasting Lewis Central 37-31.
The Cyclones showed a lot more fight against LC compared to the Creston dual, splitting 12 contested matches before finishing on the short end of a 44-30 decision.
HCHS then picked up seven wins by fall in handling Carroll 54-30, bringing its dual record to 16-11 overall and 6-4 in the Hawkeye Ten, good for fifth place.
For the meet, Nick Foss (3 pins) and Ethan Lemon (2 decisions, 1 forfeit) both went 3-0 for the Cyclones while Oscar Olmos, Nathan Henry, Caleb Bieker and Daniel Soll were all 2-1 with two pins.
