Cyclones finish Hawkeye Ten slate 19-1

 HARLAN (July 5) -- Senior Jacob Bartley used just 71 pitches to hurl a two-hit shutout here Thursday as the Harlan Community baseball team put the finishing touches on its second straight Hawkeye Ten Conference title with an 8-0 win over Shenandoah.
 HCHS, which won the H-10 crown by two games each over St. Albert and Lewis Central, has now put together a 19-1 conference record in back-to-back years.
 Handed a 7-0 lead after three, Bartley (5-0) pitched to contact efficiently in all seven innings, averaging just 10 pitches per frame while walking none and also having no strikeouts. It was the second consecutive start in which Bartley has gone all seven.
 The top-ranked Cyclones did most of their scoring off Mustang starter Cole Nebel and were also helped by some errors. Ryan Doran went 3-for-4 at the plate and doubled for the team’s only extra-base hit. Connor Bruck was 2-for-4 and had three RBI while Joey Moser singled, walked and scored two runs.
