Cyclones rout Rams 41-7 despite high penalty count
JEFFERSON (Sept. 1) -- The only real eyesore for Harlan Community in Friday night’s 41-7 win at Greene County was the number of yellow flags flying in the Cyclones’ direction.
Outside of being penalized 11 times for 118 yards - a few of them highly questionable - HCHS took care of its Week 2 business in dominant fashion.
Outgaining the Rams 323-160 in total offense, the Cyclones got a combined five touchdowns from Nick Foss and Kevin Campbell, scored 20 points off five takeaways and took a shutout into the final three minutes.
The Cyclones improved to 1-1 overall and will now host Creston/Orient-Macksburg (1-1) in a Class 3-A, District 7 opener Friday night.
HCHS head coach Curt Bladt, who collected career win number 398, felt like the Cyclones showcased a decent level of improvement compared to a season-opening 31-21 loss to 6th-ranked (4A) Lewis Central.
