Harlan swim team wins 12th straight conference crown

 LOGAN -- The Harlan Community Summer Swim Team capped an undefeated season here July 7 by winning its 12th consecutive Western Iowa Swim League conference meet title. Harlan placed first in 39 of 78 events on the day, set three school records and scored 740 points to win handily over second-place Missouri Valley (482). Elise Juhl and Austin Gerovac received all-conference certificates following the meet.
 This year’s team was nearly 100 members strong, close to doubling the participation numbers from just three years ago. Logan Maxwell served as head coach for the fourth straight year and was assisted by Madi Doonan and Taya Jasa (who also competed). Some of the team’s major accomplishments are as follows.
 • Averaged 60 first-place finishes per meet this season out of 78 total events.
 • Won dual meets by an average of 336 points.
 • Won triangular meets by an average of 642 points.
 • Broke 42 records during the year, bringing total to 122 during the last four seasons.
 • Won the conference meet by a record margin for the fourth year in a row.
 • Won 12th straight conference meet title this year and won all seven meets overall, extending program’s winning streak to 24.
