HCHS boys tennis blanked by Atlantic after 5-4 loss to Shenandoah

 HARLAN (April 23) -- The Atlantic boys tennis team handed Harlan Community its third straight dual defeat Monday afternoon, sweeping all nine varsity matches at the HCHS courts.
 The Trojans (5-1) won each match by a decisive margin, with the closest set scores being 10-4 at number five singles and No. 1 doubles.
 The Cyclones dropped to 3-4 on the year.

 The Cyclone boys fell just short against Shenandoah, 5-4, in an extremely competitive road meet last Thursday. HCHS beat the Mustangs by that same score last year in Harlan.
 Seven of the nine varsity matches were decided by four games or less, including five matches that ended up 10-8 or 11-9. Shenandoah won three of those five to come out on top.
 The Cyclones finished 2-4 in singles play, with number one player Brock Bruns and number five Lucas Schmitz winning by scores of 10-6 and 10-8, respectively. Three of the four losses were decided by just two games.
 HCHS won two out of three doubles matches, with the No. 2 team of Kaleb Kaster and Jonny Cheek prevailing 10-4 and the No. 3 team of Lucas Schmitz and Mitchell Rueschenberg winning 11-9.
