HCHS girls top Lady Vikes in Hall of Pride Scrimmage

 AVOCA (Nov. 21) -- Nicole Lange’s 26 points led all scorers here Tuesday night as the Harlan Community girls basketball team prevailed 52-43 over AHSTW in a Hall of Pride Scrimmage.
 After seeing its 26-15 first-half lead turn into a 38-38 tie midway through the third quarter, HCHS responded with a quick 7-0 run and played solid defense the rest of the way to earn the win.
 Lange, a senior forward, hit a pair of 3-pointers and was effective inside en route to scoring 18 of her 26 points before halftime. Lexi Larsen also reached double digits with 10 points, followed by Macie Leinen’s eight, Olivia Petersen five and Brecken Van Baale with three.
 Freshman Claire Denning paced AHSTW with 10 points and hit two of the Lady Vikes’ six treys on the night. Kinsey Scheffler scored seven points, Katie Anzalone added six (on two 3s) while Morgan Eckmann (5), Josie Denning (5), Claire Harris (4), Kate Wise (4) and Sidney Nelsen (2) also broke into the scoring column.
