HCHS wrestlers earn split vs. Falcons, Rams

COUNCIL BLUFFS (Dec. 5) -- The Harlan Community wrestlers opened the dual season with a 1-1 split on Tuesday, routing St. Albert 63-6 before losing a 43-29 decision vs. Glenwood. The Rams finished their double dual sweep with a 78-6 win over the host Falcons.
The Cyclones actually won six out of 11 contested matches against Glenwood, outscoring the Rams 29-25, but gave up 18 points in forfeits due to three open weights.
Five Cyclone wrestlers finished the meet with 2-0 records, including a pair of major decisions for senior 132-pounder Lucas Carter.
“It was a solid performance by our guys. We went toe to toe with a solid Glenwood team and we showed some real toughness,” said HCHS coach John Murtaugh. “We scored bonus points in five of the six matches [we won].”
