Lady Vikes win home tourney

 AVOCA (Aug. 25) -- The AHSTW volleyball team opened the season with a championship performance in last Saturday’s home tournament, going 5-0 overall.
 The Lady Vikes won Pool A with wins over CAM (2-1), Denison (2-0) and Essex (2-0), then won three-set battles with Earlham (13-21, 21-14, 15-13) and Thomas Jefferson (21-17, 18-21, 15-7) in the championship bracket.
 Juniors Kinsey Scheffler and Paige Osweiler were both named to the 10-player All-Tournament Team for AHSTW.
 Scheffler led the team with 36 total kills and a kill efficiency of .403, while Kate Wise had 32 kills and served 40-for-45 with a team-high seven aces. Osweiler scrambled for 42 digs on the day - more than twice as many as anyone else on the squad - and served three aces.
