Rasmussen to join sister at Simpson

MANNING -- Kia Rasmussen, a 2018 IKM-Manning High School graduate, signed a letter of intent this spring to play collegiate basketball at Simpson College in Indianola. Kia will once again be on the same team as her older sister Kali, who was a junior for Simpson this past season.
Kia Rasmussen finished her IKM-Manning career as the school’s assist leader with 416 and also ranks among the top three in school history with 1,299 points, 317 steals and 192 made three-pointers. A four-year starter (almost entirely at point guard), the 5-foot-5 Rasmussen helped the Wolves go 75-18 during her career, including a state tournament appearance in 2015. As a senior, she averaged 15.0 points and 4.1 rebounds per game, adding 132 assists (5.7) and 80 steals (3.5). She made 60 threes in 149 tries (.403) and shot 72 percent at the free throw line. Rasmussen’s 12 assists against Ridge View in a regional quarterfinal set the single-game school record. The Wolves reached the Class 2A regional finals this year, finishing 18-5.

Rasmussen achieved the following list of postseason honors as a senior: third-team All-State (Class 2A) by the Iowa Print Sports Writers Association and the Iowa Girls Coaches Association; first-team All-District (IGCA) and first-team All-Region (Iowa Basketball Coaches Association); first-team All-Western Iowa Conference; and first-team All-Western Iowa (Class 2A) by the Omaha World-Herald. She was also selected to play in three senior All-Star events.
