Shenandoah bowlers top Cyclones in opener

 SHENANDOAH (Dec. 4) -- The Harlan Community girls and boys bowling teams both fell short of a victory in last Monday’s season opener at Shenandoah. The Cyclone girls lost by 66 total pins (1806 to 1740) while the boys lost by 238 pins (2590 to 2352).
 The Shenandoah girls, paced by two-game totals of 289 from Vanessa Archer and 283 from Alyssa Dukes, led by 141 pins following the individual round before HCHS rallied back somewhat during the Baker games. Top Cyclone series scores were recorded by Jayden Gessert (249) and Tara Hansen (245). Gessert’s 134 was the team’s highest individual game.
 The Shenandoah boys were led by Jordan Ross’ 382 and Aaron Whitslar’s 374. Defending state qualifier Keaton Jones led HCHS with a total score of 370, bowling games of 156 and 214. Also topping 300 were Bailey Schmitz (315) and Darren Stein (303).
