Spartans outscore Cougars for 5-0 start

Pettepier plays role in all seven Exira-EHK TDs

 ANITA (Sept. 21) -- It was another banner night for senior Josh Pettepier and the Exira-Elk Horn-Kimballton offense.
 The Spartan quarterback had a hand in all seven of the team’s touchdowns and also kicked a field goal last Friday as Exira-EHK outscored CAM 52-34 to improve to 5-0 overall and 3-0 in 8-Player, District 8.
 Pettepier completed 22-of-38 passes for 240 yards and five TDs and also ran for 160 yards (19 carries) and a pair of scores for the third-ranked Spartans, who have opened the season with five quality wins against opponents with a combined record of 18-7.
 Pettepier is currently fourth in the 8-Player class with 1,282 yards passing and boasts an excellent touchdown/interception ratio of 16 to 2.
 Four Exira-EHK receivers caught at least one score vs. the Cougars (3-2, 1-2), led by Ian Leader with six receptions for 108 yards and two TDs. Jayden Goodwin (7 for 66), Trey Nelson (5-48) and Cole Burmeister (5-36) all scored once.
