Spartans roll past West Harrison, improve to 6-0

 EXIRA (Sept. 28) -- The unbeaten Exira-Elk Horn-Kimballton football team celebrated Homecoming last Friday night with a resounding 51-6 win over West Harrison, improving to 6-0 overall and 4-0 in 8-Player, District 8. The Hawkeyes dropped to 0-6.
 Despite throwing two interceptions, senior quarterback Josh Pettepier had another big game, completing 10-of-16 passes for 185 yards and four touchdowns while adding 51 yards rushing and one score.
 Pettepier’s top receivers were seniors Jayden Goodwin and Cole Burmeister, who both made four catches for 77 and 71 yards, respectively. Goodwin hauled in two touchdowns, including a 48-yarder, and Burmeister had one. Trey Nelson also caught a TD pass and Ian Leader had two receptions for 32 yards.
 The Spartan rushing attack was balanced and efficient. Pettepier netted his 51 yards on just five carries while Goodwin carried the ball six times for 49 yards and one TD. Dawson Carey was the team’s top tackler with 10 total stops.
