Swanson finalist for national award

SIOUX FALLS, SD -- Chad Swanson, a longtime Harlan Community teacher and coach, was honored at the National High School Athletic Coaches Association’s national convention June 26 as a finalist for the National (Girls) Assistant Coach of the Year.
Swanson was one of just eight finalists chosen from throughout the country for this award. He attended the honors banquet with his wife Lisa and HCHS Activities Director Mitch Osborn.
Swanson was a member of the HCHS volleyball coaching staff for approximately 20 years, including one season as head coach in 2002, before stepping down earlier this year. During that time, the Cyclones made their first eight State Volleyball Tournament appearances and won back-to-back state titles in 2013 and 2014. Swanson was previously named the Iowa Girls’ Coaches Association Volleyball Assistant Coach of the Year in 2016.
He is also the boys golf coach at HCHS and has been an assistant boys basketball coach for 20 years.
