Top medalists guide Spartans, Wolves to district golf

Carroll, Rasmussen shoot rounds of 76 at separate sectional sites

 AREA (May 11) -- Exira-Elk Horn-Kimballton and IKM-Manning both advanced from Class 1A sectionals to district play last Friday (May 11) and will now compete in the same 1A Boys District Golf Tournament May 18 at Anita.
 The Spartans placed second in the 1A sectional meet at Neola’s Quail Run with a 328 team score, trailing host Tri-Center by four strokes. St. Albert also advanced with a 350. Exira-EHK sophomore Everett Carroll earned top medalist honors in the meet with a 76, shooting nine-hole rounds of 40 and 36 and carding a 5 or lower on all 18 holes.
 The Wolves placed second in the 1A sectional tournament at Afton’s Lakeshore Country Club with a 354. CAM won the meet with a 351. IKM-Manning freshman Kyler Rasmussen was the first-place medalist with a 76 (38-38), scoring 10 pars and a birdie while taking just one 6 over 18 holes.
Neola Sectional:
 In addition to Everett Carroll’s 76 at sectionals, the Exira-EHK scorecard also included: Will Carroll 80 (42-38); Cole Burmeister 82 (43-39); Cole Madsen 90 (43-47); Tyler Petersen 98 (50-48); and Dalton Vanderwal 103 (52-51).
Afton Sectional:
 IKM-Manning scores included Rasmussen’s 76, Austin Ahrenholtz 89 (44-45), Tyler Brandt 91 (48-43), Jarod Henkelman 98 (48-50), Tyler Henkelman 98 (52-46) and Conner Richards 107 (54-53).
