Vikings, 8-0, beat Southwest Valley
CORNING (Oct. 12) -- With just one week left in the regular season, only three unbeaten teams remain in Iowa Class A football.
Second-ranked AHSTW maintained that status last Friday night with a 32-13 win at Southwest Valley, improving to 8-0 overall and 4-0 in District 9. The Timberwolves dropped to 5-3 and 1-3, respectively.
Offensively, the Vikings were led by quarterback Blake Osbahr’s 210 passing yards and three touchdowns (9-of-18, one interception) and Gabe Pauley’s 128 yards rushing on 26 carries with one TD.
Osbahr’s scoring throws covered 33 yards to Brayton Tuma, 23 yards to Pauley and 17 to Korbin Martin. Drake Partridge, meanwhile, was the top receiver with three catches for 103 yards.
Entering this Friday’s Week 9 showdown against St. Albert (5-3, 4-0) for the district title, Viking coach Davis Pattee says the entire staff is proud of the players’ collective resiliency in starting the year with eight wins.
“Other than a couple of lopsided games, the others have had their share of unique challenges and each time our kids have responded pretty well,” he said.
