WIC Softball Tourney: Panthers down Lady Vikes 9-1

 UNDERWOOD (June 25) -- Logan-Magnolia built an early 4-0 lead and continued to pull away from AHSTW for a 9-1 victory in Tuesday’s Western Iowa Conference Softball Tournament quarterfinal at Underwood.
 The fifth-seeded Panthers improved to 10-11 and advanced to Thursday’s semifinal and championship rounds in Logan. The fourth-seeded Lady Vikes dropped to 10-9 overall.
 Lo-Ma plated one run in the first and scored three more in the second, starting with a single by Kattie Troxel and a double from Ashley Christians. Reanna Rife capped the inning with an RBI single.
 Rife later hit a two-run double in the fourth and an RBI single during the team’s three-run sixth, giving her four RBI on the night. She also pitched seven effective innings for the win, allowing five hits and one run while walking three, hitting one batter and striking out eight.
 Leadoff batter Erikah Rife also went 3-for-4 with a double and scored four runs.
 AHSTW scored its only run in the fifth when Katie Anzalone singled home Ally Meyers to make it 6-1, but the Lady Vikes left the bases loaded and stranded nine runners in the game. Sydney Zimmerman led AHSTW at the plate, going 2-for-4 with a double.
