Wolves pull away late, top Vikings 52-34

AVOCA (Jan. 11) -- The IKM-Manning boys capped a solid week on the basketball floor Friday night, following up Tuesday’s 55-38 win over Audubon with a 52-34 road victory at AHSTW.
The Wolves, who led just 35-29 in the third quarter, finished the period on an 8-3 run and outscored the Vikings 9-2 in the fourth to pull away, improving to 9-4 overall and 8-2 in Western Iowa Conference play.
Alex Lingle paced IKM-M with 19 points, including the first six of the game, while Nathan Blankman scored 13 and Colten Brandt added 12 (10 in the second half).
“It was a great week for the guys. They’re really playing pretty well,” said Wolves’ head coach Keith Wagner. “Offensively we’re not always real smooth but Alex played well and we had other guys step up."
AHSTW fell behind 6-0 in the opening minutes and never led in the game despite pulling within one point on four occasions in the first half. Michael Mantell and Blake Osbahr led the way with seven points each.
