IT’S CRUZ AND SANDERS

OUNTY – Shelby County caucus-goers backed Bernie Sanders and Ted Cruz as their Democratic and Republican candidates of choice for president, in a Monday night meeting that saw record numbers of voters both locally and statewide head to their caucus sites.
At Veteran’s Auditorium in Harlan, an estimated 1,000 people packed into the building to hear from candidate representatives, cast their ballots for presidential nominations, and elect delegates to the county convention and central committee.
At one point early in the evening, a line of people snaked from the auditorium through the parking lot to Dollar General as caucus-goers waited to register and get into the auditorium.
At the C.G. Therkildsen Center, nearly 300 people turned out to cast their votes for candidates of choice.
At both sites, participants had the opportunity to discuss and submit resolutions to be considered for the party platforms later this spring.
