Dennis Anastasi

Dennis Anastasi was adopted by Francis and Bernice (Weihs) Anastasi on April 19, 1948 in Grinnell, IA. He attended church and was baptized and confirmed at St. Michael’s catholic church in Harlan, IA. Dennis graduated from Harlan High School and then went on to Iowa Western Community College in Council Bluffs, IA with an Associates Degree in Auto Mechanics.
Dennis was united in marriage to Mary Ann Feser on August 29, 1970 at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Defiance, IA. To this union, three sons were born, Jason, Jared and Joey.
Denny was a man of many talents. Especially carpentry and working on cars and machinery. His entire work career was spent as a shop foreman and mechanic at Shelby County Road Department for 43 years. He and Mary Ann spent many long hours restoring his hot rod. Dennis also loved his dog, Sam, taking him on countless car rides. He was never too busy to help family and friends. He especially loved being with his family. His grandchildren and great granddaughter were his pride and joy.
Denny passed away on Monday, January 23, 2023 at his home surrounded by his family. He was preceded in death by his parents Francis and Bernice Anastasi.
He is survived by his wife Mary Ann Anastasi of Defiance, IA, his children, Jason Anastasi of Defiance, IA, Jared (Kris) Anastasi of Manilla, IA, and Joey (Maria) Anastasi of Polk City, IA; grandchildren, Jaden Anastasi (Jacob Kapustka) of Ankeny, IA, Alex Anastasi of Ankeny, IA, Zoey (Damien) Bissen of Minot, ND, Aaron Anastasi of Polk City, IA, Kinze Anastasi of Manilla, IA, Heidi Anastasi of Manilla, IA, and Eliza Anastasi of Polk City, IA; great-granddaughter, Emmerson Kapustka of Ankeny, IA; sister, Vickie Graham of Earling, IA; many other family members and friends.
An 11:00 Mass of Christian Burial Service was officiated by Rev. Andrew Windschitl on Saturday January 28, 2023 at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Defiance, Iowa. Alex Anastasi, Jason Anastasi, Jared Anastasi, Joey Anastasi, Jacob Kapustka, Damien Bissen, Troy Bruck, and Todd Bruck served as pallbearers. A burial was held at Sts. Peter and Paul Cemetery in Defiance, Iowa following the service.
Pauley Jones Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
