Lester Schmitz, 92

    HARLAN -- Lester Schmitz, 92, Harlan, died October 10 at Elm Crest Retirement Community.
    Services were held Monday, Oct. 14 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary Our Lady of Fatima Church in Portsmouth with burial in the St. Mar’s Cemetery in Portsmouth.
    Schmitz is survived by sons Greg (Barbara) Schmitz of Dallas, TX, Jim (Alicia) Schmitz of Chagrin Falls, OH and John (Kim) Schmitz of Iowa City; daughter Peg (Tim) Gaul of Ames; sisters Arlene Hodapp of Erie, CO and Sr. Lorraine Schmitz of Greenfield, WI; nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
    Pauley Jones Funeral Home in Harlan is in charge of arrangements.
