Neil Urban Huebert

Neil Urban Huebert, the youngest son of Henry Jr. and Gertrude (Leinen) Huebert. He was born on December 13, 1944. He attended St. Mary’s Grade and High School, graduating with the class of 1963.
Neil helped farm with his father and also helped his father and uncle on fencing jobs. In 1963, Neil joined his oldest brother Gerald in the roofing business, known as Huebert Brothers. Neil also did truck driving for several truckers in the area and worked for the Railroad.
On May 3, 1969 Neil married Cherylene Smith to this union four children were born Darcy, Michelle, Chad and Denise.
In the 1970’s Neil and his brother started cutting down and removing trees. He also took the job of opening graves for St. Mary’s Parish. He was a great welder there wasn’t anything he couldn’t make or fix. Neil loved farming more than any other job he ever did which is why he did it for 57 years. It brought him so much happiness to put the crops in and to harvest, he loved black Angus cattle and took pride in his herd.
Neil was a lifetime member of St. Mary’s Church.
Neil’s greatest joy in his life was family, he loved his wife beyond words. He would look at his family and grin with a twinkle in his eye. He loved his children and would drop anything to be with them. Grandchildren and great grandchildren were a blessing that he cherished every moment with them. This was when you would see him at his most vulnerable moments, he would beam from ear to ear and melt in their presence.
Neil was proceeded in death by his parents, son Chad; sisters Verda Mae, Karen; his brothers Gerald, Dallan and Damian; brother-in-law’s Gary Smith, Robert Risk; sister-in-law Phyllis (Tiny) Smith; nephews Troy and Trent Smith.
Neil is survived by his loving wife Cherylene. Daughter’s Darcy (Dave) Kramer of Omaha, NE; Michelle (Corey) Sorensen of Harlan, IA; and Denise (Dustin) O’Brien of Glidden, IA. Grandchildren Macie (Luke) Ferguson, Braxton Kramer, Dustin O’Brien Jr. (Lexi) and Mariah Kramer; great grandchildren Henry and Elowynn Ferguson; other family and friends.
A 10:30 AM Mass of Christian Burial was officiated by Rev. Michael Antoh and Homilist Rev. Larry Hoffman on Monday, May 15, 2023 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Panama, Iowa. Braxton Kramer and Dustin O’Brien, Jr served as Pall Bearers. Macie Ferguson, Mariah Kramer, Henry Ferguson, and Elowynn Ferguson served as Honorary Pall Bearers. A burial was held following the service at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Panama, Iowa.
Pauley Jones Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
