Big third quarters vault Viking boys to 6-0

 AVOCA (Dec. 13) -- The AHSTW boys basketball team will take a 6-0 record into its final pre-holidays week following Friday night’s 75-59 home win over Audubon.
 The Vikings, who had five players score in double figures, led 35-24 at halftime before outscoring the Wheelers 27-10 in the third quarter to open a commanding lead.
 The Vikings made 11-of-29 three-pointers, including four each by Joey Cunningham and Clayton Akers, and shot 45 percent from the field overall.
 Michael Mantell (eight rebounds, two blocks) and Akers (five boards, six assists) led the team with 14 points apiece and Cunningham scored 13. Freshman Brayden Lund had 11 points and five boards, Raydden Grobe had 10 points, five assists and three steals, Kyle Sternberg scored seven and Sam Porter added five points to go along with 11 rebounds, four assists and three steals.
 Audubon (1-4, 1-3 WIC) was led by Kaiden Smith’s 15 points (3-of-3 treys) and nine rebounds.

AHSTW 77, Shenandoah 63
 SHENANDOAH (Dec. 12) -- The third quarter was also good to the Vikings Thursday night in a 14-point road win at Shenandoah. AHSTW outscored the Mustangs 29-12 in the third after leading by just three points (35-32) at the half.
 Raydden Grobe had a big night offensively for the Vikes with 26 points, seven rebounds and four assists. He shot 10-of-16 from the field and made 4-of-7 treys.
 Michael Mantell tallied 11 points, seven boards and three blocks, Kyle Sternberg scored nine points (3-of-4 treys) and Sam Porter had eight points, 10 rebounds and seven assists.
