Cyclone girls bowlers win Red Oak Tournament

 RED OAK (Jan. 12) -- The Harlan Community girls bowling team won Tuesday’s four-team Red Oak Tournament while the HCHS boys placed fourth.
 The Cyclone girls posted a winning score of 2,268 to outlast Lewis Central by 43 pins. Shenandoah finished third with 1,987 pins and Red Oak (1,816) was fourth.
 On the boys side, Red Oak won the team title with 2,870 pins, followed by LC (2,792), Shenandoah (2,620) and HCHS (2,278).
 Individual champions on the day were Bailey Maher of Shenandoah, who rolled a two-game series of 370, and Red Oak’s Jonathan Piper (473).
 The Cyclone girls’ top three bowlers placed third, fourth and fifth in the final standings. Scores were as follows: Madison Horn 341 (194-147); Ania Kaster 327 (182-145); Lily Hegarty 320 (168-152); Abby Swank 299 (161-138); Sydney O’Neill 263 (137-126); Anna Grote 257 (159-98).
 Andrew Andersen placed fourth overall to lead the Cyclone boys, rolling games of 232 and 199 for a 431. Additional scores included: Tegan Steinkuehler 336 (177-159); Caleb Smith 285 (153-132); Brennon Munch 263 (132-131); Jon Ayers 261 (131-130); Wyatt Powell 260 (133-127).
