Cyclone wrestlers defeat Underwood, CB AL

SHENANDOAH (Jan. 14) -- The Harlan Community wrestlers picked up two more dual wins Tuesday night at Shenandoah, defeating a strong Underwood squad 42-31 and topping Council Bluffs Abraham Lincoln 65-12. HCHS did not wrestle the host Mustangs as the two teams had their conference dual in December.
The Cyclones, now 11-3 overall, won six out of 11 contested matches against the shorthanded Eagles, who were competing without four quality wrestlers. With the score tied 9-9, HCHS scored 27 straight points to take control, including pins by Zane Bendorf at 160 pounds, Nathan Henry (195) and Jesse Schwery (220). Wyatt Obrecht also recorded a win by fall for the Cyclones.
HCHS went 6-2 and also received six forfeits against the Lynx. Cyclone pins were secured by Zane Bendorf, Thomas Frederick and Henry while Jesse Schwery and Sammy Schmitz both won major decisions.
Eight Cyclones finished 2-0 on the night with four of the eight wrestling twice: Zane Bendorf, Carter Bendorf, Henry and Schwery.
