Cyclones complete season sweep of Titans

Tuesday on the road against the Lewis Central Titans, HCHS senior Tianna Kasperbauer got the ball, pitched a complete game, striking out seven and giving up just one run on seven hits on the way to a 4-1 victory.

“Tianna was able to keep them guessing last night with her change up,” said HCHS Head Softball Coach Toshia Kasperbauer. “They did get a couple big hits off a changeup, but Tianna was able to work out of the inning.”

While Tianna is dominant with her pitching, Coach Kasperbauer gave credit to senior catcher Kelsi Hoffman for the job she does behind the plate and how she’s progressing.

“I think Kelsi learns something new every game and I think she gets better every game,” she said. “She works hard every day and is a sponge and will try to soak everything up, which makes my job easy.”

During the game, seven different girls contributed to the win with at least one hit. Three of the seven girls had two hits each between Tianna and juniors Ella Plagman and Abbie Schechinger.

“We are getting more and more hits as a team,” she added. “We have to keep rolling at the plate.”

The team will take on the Council Bluffs Lincoln Lynx, 8-16, next on the road Wednesday at 7 p.m.

“AL does play some bigger schools,” Coach Kasperbauer said. “The last few years we have come out with the W, but every year is a new challenge.”
