Cyclones defeat Bulldogs to remain undefeated

Friday night, the HCHS boys varsity baseball team took on the LeMars Bulldogs and won to push their record to 3-0 to start the season.

“It was a nice night,” said HCHS Head Baseball Coach Heath Stein. “Beautiful Friday night for us to play. A lot of the guys were pretty hyped up to be at home. We had a pretty good crowd.”

Stein credited a few players on his roster for their approach when taking at bats against the Bulldogs.

“We were very patient at the plate,” he said. “We only had three hits, but Matt had a big triple to right field and Joey [Moser] had a big two RBI single to left. It was kind of one of those nights where we took what they gave us.”

Their next match was initially supposed to happen against the Tri-Center Trojans Monday, but there was a cancellation and now their next game will get underway Thursday night when the ADM Tigers come to town.

“Unfortunately they cancelled on us,” he added.

Despite a perfect record to this point, Stein still thinks improvements could be made.

“We can’t rest at all. We can’t think that we’ve got it made. We need to keep improving and keep working,” he said.
