Cyclones move closer to Hawkeye Ten title

DENISON -- With an assist or two from Glenwood, the Harlan Community volleyball team is just one win removed from a third consecutive outright championship in the Hawkeye Ten Conference.
HCHS improved to 8-1 in league play (32-5 overall) with a 25-12, 25-19, 25-13 sweep at Denison-Schleswig Monday night, maintaining its share of first place with Kuemper Catholic. One night later, the Knights suffered their second conference loss, 3-1, at Glenwood, which also handed Lewis Central its second H-10 defeat on October 13.
The 2nd-ranked (4-A) Cyclones looked to wrap up the Hawkeye Ten crown Thursday night when they finished the regular season at Clarinda (15-10, 3-6). They will then focus on the start of Class 4-A regional play, which begins Thursday, Oct. 29, when the Cyclones host either Dallas Center-Grimes or Perry in a Region 2 semifinal.
