Cyclones shutout Trojans, 5-0, on the road

Friday night, the HCHS boys varsity soccer team battled the Atlantic Trojans on the road and were victorious 5-0. With this victory, it moves their overall record to 5-7.

“The schedule has been tough,” said HCHS Head Soccer Coach Dave Voge. “We continue to improve for the most part, but need to become more consistent and not play up or down to our opponents. I do like how we are playing and am hoping we peak in two to three weeks when the playoffs come around.”

Throughout the night, sophomore Ian Shelton stood out for the Cyclones as he came away with two goals for the Cyclones.

“Shelton has done a good job up top for us this season and continues to grow,” he said. “His intensity, drive, skill and quick shots have been a bright spot for us.”

The Cyclones will get back on the field and play their next game Monday on the road against the Council Bluffs Lincoln Lynx.

“The Lynx are always a tough team to beat year in and year out,” he added. “We cannot overlook anyone at this point as all teams improve as the season goes on. If we do, that is when we can get into trouble and come out on the wrong side of the scoreboard.”
