Cyclones win on Wicks’ big night

It was hot and humid at Merrill Field, but that didn’t stop the HCHS girls varsity soccer team from playing strong against the Logan-Magnolia Panthers. They were victorious 4-2. Senior Raegen Wicks had three goals for the Cyclones.

“She was strong up front,” said HCHS Head Soccer Coach Jared Boysen. “She’s been wanting it.

With this win, it marks five victories in a row for the Cyclones. Boysen acknowledged what he thinks has led to this success.

“I think after the Underwood game where we played strong defensively, but we saw what we could be,” he said. “The girls said we need to step up and go from there and saw what we could work on.”

Their next opponent they will play is the AHSTW Vikings Tuesday night at Merrill Field at 5 p.m. It was also be senior night for those students approaching graduation.

“It’s senior night, so it’s valuable for those girls,” he added. “They’ve meant a lot to the program. I’ve coached them since they were in middle school and all the way up.”
