Emgarten leads area list of IGCA All-State softball players

 AREA -- Led by first-teamer Macy Emgarten, four players from three local schools have been named to the 2021 Iowa Girls Coaches Association’s All-State Softball teams.
 Emgarten, a junior from Exira-Elk Horn-Kimballton, made the Class 1A first team this summer after being selected for the second team last year and the honorable mention list in 2019. She helped lead the Spartans to a 22-7 record and a second consecutive trip to the 1A regional finals.
 Exira-EHK sophomore Shay Burmeister was named to the Class 1A second team while Harlan Community senior Emily Brouse made the Class 4A second team and AHSTW junior Ally Meyers received honorable mention in 2A.
 Brouse, a third-teamer last year, was the top player on a Cyclone team that went 26-12 and advanced to a second straight regional final.
 Meyers played a key role on a Lady Vike squad that went 15-13.
