Girls Golf finishes in tie with Trojans

On Monday afternoon, the HCHS girls varsity golf team battled the Atlantic Trojans in the heat and ended up tying each other with 214 strokes on the day. Two girls took home medals for the Cyclones.

“I thought the girls played tough,” said HCHS Head Golf Coach Todd Bladt. “Macy [Mueller], it’s her first time medaling. Also, Timber [Svendsen] in there. Both shot 52.”

With this match behind them, the Cyclones record goes to 7-11-1. Wednesday in Denison at the Majestic Hills Golf Course, they will be playing in 3A Region 1 in which 12 schools will take part in.

“If we can just keep the ball in play, make good decisions on the green, that’s going to be kind of the most important thing that we’ve got going on tomorrow,” he said.

With the season drawing to a close soon, Bladt addressed what he feels the girls have improved on throughout the course of the year.

“I think they’re just gaining some confidence,” he added. “I think they’re starting to kind of gel as a team too. They’re all underclassmen, so they’re going to be back.”
