Harlan Trap Team attends State Meet competition

 CEDAR FALLS -- Several athletes from the Harlan Trap team participated in the State Meet located in Cedar Falls. The competition started Tuesday, June 8, and concluded on Sunday, June 13. There were a total of 4,000 athletes competing over the course of the week.
 Harlan had eight athletes competing on Tuesday in the Intermediate (Middle School) competition and 16 athletes competing on Saturday in the Varsity (High School) competition. The competition consisted of two rounds of 100 targets each for a total of 200 targets. In addition, four high schoolers competed in Handicaps and three competed in Doubles on Thursday. Multiple students received their personal best scores at the meet, bringing the season to a close on a high note.
 The Male Intermediate Entry athletes competed against a total of 444 different athletes in their division. The top shooter in this division was from Ankeny and obtained a 194 out of 200. From Harlan, Lucas Paulsen shot 163 out of 200 to tie for 106th place. Landon Nihsen shot 162 out of 200 to tie for 114th place. Kasey Christensen shot 139 out of 200 to tie for 283rd place. Overall, the Intermediate Entry level shooters obtained their personal bests with scores for each individual round ranging from 14 to 23 out of a possible 25.
 The Male Intermediate Advanced athletes competed against a total of 234 different athletes in their division. The top shooter in this division was from Mount Pleasant and obtained a 196 out of 200. From Harlan, Brock Loudy tied for 52nd with 176 out of 200. Grant Petersen tied for 59th with 175 out of 200. Joel Gross tied for 69th with 174 out of 200. John Schechinger tied for 140th with 162 out of 200. Nolan Muenchrath tied for 173rd with 151 out of 200. Together, the squad had a score of 838 out of 1,000 for 17th place out of 35 squads. The Intermediate Advanced level shooters obtained their personal bests with scores for each individual round ranging from 16 to 25 out of a possible 25.
 On Thursday, three High School athletes from Harlan competed in the Doubles competition. In total, there were 629 competitors in Doubles with divisions being separated by level and gender. Josh Kenkel shot 87 out of 100 to tie for 63rd with 256 total competitors in his division of Senior Varsity Male. Chase Dimmitt shot 79 out of 100 to tie for 144th in Senior Varsity Male. Avery Carter shot 75 out of 100 to tie for 34th out of 61 total competitors in the division of Senior Varsity Female.
 Four High School athletes from Harlan also competed in the Handicap competition. In total, there were 740 competitors in Handicaps with divisions being separated by level and gender. Josh Kenkel shot 90 out of 100 to tie for 41st with 252 total competitors in his division of Senior Varsity Male. Chase Dimmitt shot 79 out of 100 to tie for 152nd in Senior Varsity Male. Branden Lawyer shot 75 out of 100 to tie for 183rd in Senior Varsity Male. Avery Carter shot 91 out of 100 to tie for 5th out of 70 competitors in Senior Varsity Female.
 The Male Junior Varsity athletes competed against a total of 642 different athletes in their division. The top shooter in this division was from Fort Madison and obtained a 198 out of 200. From Harlan, Brady Muenchrath shot 177 out of 200 to tie for 156th place. Edwin Mages shot 173 out of 200 for 212th place. The JV Male shooters obtained their individual personal bests.
 The Male Varsity athletes competed against a total of 769 different athletes in their division. The top shooter in the division was from Newton and shot a 199 out of 200. From Harlan, Josh Kenkel shot a 192 out of 200 to tie for 52nd. Hugh Griffith shot a 187 out of 200 to tie for 137th. Chase Dimmitt shot 186 out of 200 to tie for 157th. Branden Lawyer shot 183 out of 200 to tie for 232nd. Brett Wageman shot 182 out of 200 to tie for 259th. Reece Schwery shot 170 out of 200 to tie for 479th. Clay Gross shot 169 out of 200 to tie for 496th. Ben Muenchrath shot 168 out of 200 to tie for 513th. Braxton Gaul shot 162 out of 200 to tie for 596th. Wesley Muenchrath shot 159 out of 200 to tie for 642nd. Jesse Schwery shot 156 out of 200 to tie for 669th. Kody Bruck shot 152 out of 200 to tie for 695th.
 The Female Varsity athletes competed against a total of 169 different athletes in their division. The top shooter in this division was from Mason City and obtained a 197 out of 200. From Harlan, Avery Carter tied for 47th with 180 out of 200. Katie Burchett tied for 106th with 164 out of 200.
