HCHS Boys Soccer shuts down Council Bluffs Lincoln

On Monday night, the HCHS boys varsity soccer team played the Council Bluffs Lincoln Lynx and shut them down, 2-0.

“It was a huge win for us last night against CB Abraham Lincoln,” said HCHS Head Soccer Coach Dave Voge. “We have struggled against them in the last three or four contests, but this time we turned the tables on the scoreboard.”

Senior Ashton Lyon and sophomore Ian Kearney each had a goal on the night for the Cyclones.

“Ashton Lyon started us out on the scoring sheet with a beautiful goal after a nice long pass over the top of the backline from Reese Koch,” he said. “Our second half goal was from a scramble in the box and Ian Kearney had the ball fall to him and he knew exactly what to do.”

With this victory, it marks two consecutive road wins for the Cyclones. Now they will return home to play the Carroll Tigers, 2-4, on Thursday night at Merrill Field at 6:30 p.m.

“We have had a couple of nice wins on the road the last two games,” he added. “It will be nice to get back to Merrill and have a home game. Carroll will be a challenge like every opponent is. We have to stay focused and make sure we do the things we need to do to get another win.”
