HCHS Girls Golf takes eighth at Trojan Invitational

On Tuesday, the HCHS girls varsity golf team took home eighth place with a total of 435 strokes played in the Trojan Invitational at Nishna Hills Golf Club. The girls finished just two behind Shenandoah. One girl on the roster stood out for the Cyclones.

“Timber Svendsen ended up medaling, she got ninth place overall,” said HCHS Head Golf Coach Todd Bladt. “She shot under 100. She’s the first person this year to shoot under 100 for us.”

Bladt also spoke on how his team overall has come along throughout the course of the season.

“A lot of the girls improved,” he said. “As a team, a big goal for us is to shoot under 400.”

With no seniors on the roster this year set to graduate, Bladt is optimistic that everyone will return next season.

“We’re hoping to bring everybody back,” he added. “But, we’re just going to focus on what we got here at the end of the year and see if we can keep getting a little better.”

Their next match will get underway Monday at the Hawkeye 10 at 9 a.m. in which 11 schools will be competing.
