HCHS Girls Tennis drops back-to-back matches

It was another rough night at the tennis courts for the HCHS girls varsity tennis team as they dropped their match to the Red Oak Tigers 9-0.

“In the past, the Red Oak girls team has always been a tough opponent, and it continued this year as well,” said HCHS Head Tennis Coach Katie Arentson. “They had strong serving speed, and they were consistent with good ball control/placement.”

Despite such a tough loss against the Tigers, Arentson was proud of the efforts her team showed out there.

“All of the girls played well and took some game points in each of the matches, but overall Red Oak just had better ball control and placement,” she said. “These types of matches are great to play as they challenge us to get better.”

The girls next match will take place Monday on the road against the Audubon Wheelers. Even with two tough losses, Arentson is highly optimistic about what’s to come for her team.

“I am looking forward to next week when we will actually get some practice time in to work on some of the things we are seeing in match play,” she added. “This will allow us to be prepared for our conference and regional tournaments that are coming up soon.”
