HCHS Varsity Golf defeats Kuemper Catholic by three strokes

It was a windy day at the Harlan Golf and Country Club, however that didn’t stop the HCHS boys varsity golf team from coming out strong as they defeated Kuemper Catholic by three strokes Monday night.

“Jace Gubbels, Braydon Ernst, and Alex Bladt did a good job managing the course and weather today,” said HCHS Head Coach Chad Swanson. “Sam Bladt came through with a solid scoring round as well.”

Gubbels even went home as a medalist with an overall score of 41 on the day. Aside from Gubbels performance, Swanson did acknowledge his team’s overall performance.

“Today as a group we did a much better job avoiding penalty strokes as well as being more consistent around the greens,” he said. “It was definitely a step in the right direction.”

The team’s next match will be Tuesday right back at the Country Club as they will match up against the Atlantic Trojans at 4:30 p.m.
