HCHS volleyball practices underway

 HARLAN (Aug. 10) -- The Harlan Community volleyball team held its first official practices  this week - starting Monday - in preparation for the 2021 season.
 HCHS graduated six seniors from last year’s 16-14 campaign, which included a 7-3 record in Hawkeye Ten Conference play.
 The Cyclones return five players that saw significant varsity time last year, led by second-team all-conference selection Zophi Hendricks (team-high 236 kills, 212 digs) and Claire Schmitz (96 kills, 67 blocks).
 HCHS will feature a new high school coaching staff this year in head coach Elle Crees and assistants Josie Esser and Jacie White, who are all Cyclone alums.
 The Cyclones will open the season on Thursday, Aug. 26, at the ADM (Adel) Tournament, then host the Cyclone Invitational on Saturday, Aug. 28.
