IKM-M girls rally to win at Treynor
TREYNOR (Dec. 20) -- The IKM-Manning girls basketball team outscored Treynor 15-6 in the fourth quarter last Friday night to rally past the Cardinals 37-32 and improve to 4-1 in the Western Iowa Conference (5-2 overall).
The Wolves had scored just 10 points in the second and third periods combined and entered the final stanza down 26-22 before finishing strong.
Alexa Ahrenholtz led IKM-M with 11 points, Lexi Branning scored 10, Nicole Hanson had seven and Bianca Cadwell added six. The Wolves overcame a cold shooting night in which they made just 12-of-42 field goals (29 percent) and 8-of-19 free throws.
Branning grabbed a team-high 10 rebounds (six on the offensive glass) and also led the way with four assists.
Treynor, which turned the ball over 23 times (seven more than IKM-Manning) got 16 points from Mandy Stogdill and nine from Tori Castle. The rebuilding Cards dropped to 3-5 overall and 3-3 in the WIC.
