Comments from Head Coach Keith Wagner
“We had a very good 2019 golf season. We won the Western Iowa Conference Tournament and were undefeated in conference dual meets. We finished second in our sectional meet and advanced to the district meet but were unable to advance to state. We lost Jarod Henkelman and Tyler Henkelman from last year’s squad.
“We were looking forward to the 2020 season as we returned four letter winners from 2019. Kyler Rasmussen was our leading returner and was looking to repeat as the conference tournament winner. We also were returning letter winners Tyler Brandt, Conner Richards and Max Nielsen. The other returning players were Grant Gaer and Zach Willenborg. We were expecting two freshmen out as well in Zander Nielsen and Xavier Newman.
“Our goal was to win the league duals title and repeat as conference tournament champion. The guys were really excited to get started but the virus situation obviously didn’t allow us to do that. They were disappointed but they were going to continue to work on their golf games on their own when they could. They are a great group of guys and I will have them all back next season.”
