IKM-Manning girls fall short against Treynor, 55-49

MANNING -- Down two starters and facing an undefeated rival, IKM-Manning gave 13th-ranked Treynor all it could handle last Friday night, but the Cardinal girls had just a little bit more down the stretch.
Finishing the game on an 8-2 surge - all on free throws - after IKM-M knotted the score at 47 with 1:57 to play, Treynor escaped with a 55-49 victory to improve to 9-0 overall (8-0 in the Western Iowa Conference).
The Wolves, meanwhile, suffered their third close loss in league play and dipped to 7-3 overall (5-3 WIC).
Coach Gene Rasmussen’s squad played four games last week (winning three) without starters Aly Stadtlander and Payton Sporrer, who were attending an FFA livestock judging trip to Colorado.
Against Treynor, they fell behind 21-9 early in the second quarter, then stormed back to take a pair of three-point leads in the third. A string of four consecutive turnovers early in the fourth led to a 7-0 Treynor run and proved critical to the outcome.
