IKM-Manning girls win at Lo-Ma

 LOGAN (Jan. 7) -- The IKM-Manning girls basketball team maintained its share of first place in the Western Iowa Conference Tuesday night with an impressive 64-58 road win at 14th-ranked (Class 2A) Logan-Magnolia.
 Turning the ball over just nine times in the game, the Wolves used a strong third quarter to build a 48-35 lead and staved off a late comeback after the Panthers pulled within three points with more than a minute remaining. IKM-M shot 46.5 percent from the field and made enough free throws (20-of-30) to hold on, improving to 7-2 overall and 6-1 in the WIC - tied with AHSTW and Audubon for first place. Lo-Ma, which has lost two of three since a 7-0 start, dropped to 8-2 overall and 5-2 in the WIC.
 The Wolves’ forward combo of Lexi Branning and Bre Muhlbauer combined to make 11-of-20 field goals and 11-of-15 free throws on the night, leading the way with 18 and 16 points, respectively. Alexa Ahrenholtz finished with 10 points, seven rebounds and three steals while Nicole Hanson and Bianca Cadwell added nine points each.
 The Panthers, who shot just 31.1 percent overall (6-of-21 from 3-point range), stayed in the game by making 14-of-18 free throws and finishing plus-six (31-25) in rebounds. Kylie Morrison (17 points), Violet Lapke (14) and Emilie Thompson (13, 3-of-7 treys) all scored in double figures for Lo-Ma and Morrison also had 12 rebounds and six assists.
