Lady Vikes’ rally falls short at No. 14 Riverside

 OAKLAND (Sept. 19) -- The AHSTW volleyball team rallied back from an 0-2 deficit to force a fifth set at 14th-ranked (Class 1A) Riverside Thursday night before losing a heartbreaker, 19-25, 15-25, 25-20, 25-10, 9-15. The Lady Vikes dropped to 0-3 in Western Iowa Conference play (6-7 overall) while the Bulldogs improved to 2-0 in the WIC and 16-4 overall.
 AHSTW senior Kinsey Scheffler helped spark the comeback with a game-high 17 kills on 33-of-43 attacks (.163 efficiency). Kailey Jones (.375) added seven kills, followed by Megan Wise with six and Sydney Zimmerman four. Ally Meyers set 28 assists and had 12 digs and Paige Osweiler was the team leader with 18 digs while serving 20-for-21 with an ace.
 Riverside survived 18 missed serves on the night but did finish with a 9-2 advantage in aces.
